LETTER FROM THE FOUNDERS:
Midlands People Power is a youth based coalition looking to create social change in their communities! Midlands People Power is based on the morals and goals of the national ACLU People Power organization and plans to extend those goals in every sector of their environments. Student-Based, (MPP) is entirely ran through the eyes of voices of the most underrepresented demographic in activism, the youth.
Started by two activists located here in the Midlands Area, Vanessa and CC, Midlands People Power wants to amplify student activism in Columbia and surrounding areas.
Since we are student-based, the trajectory of our chapter is made by YOU! What you believe our world should look like, what you believe needs to change and what you believe is needed to make the world a better place for generations to come!
This year will be filled with roundtables talks, advocacy sessions, leadership development and ways we can implement our goals in our community.
Midlands People Power is looking for high schoolers who are ready to take the next step to change the world for the better.
Generally, we will have monthly meetings where will convene and talk about our goals and events coming up that month.
However, for specific committees, we will have bi-weekly meetings over video chat software to keep our mobilization strong and impactful!
For more information on our goals, plans for the year or ways you can be involved, join today! :)

MIDLANDS PEOPLE POWER AT A GLANCE
A Little Bit about Us
As a youth-led initiative, Midlands People Power plans to give a platform to the most underrepresented in advocacy, the youth. No matter what race, gender, sexuality, Midlands People Power is inclusive to give everyone a voice and make them feel welcome. Located in the heart of South Carolina, we primarily focus on increasing youth political engagement and creating a space for teen activists to convene in South Carolina. The age range of this chapter is 14 to 18 year olds.
ACTIVITIES
The primary goals of this chapter

YOUTH OUTREACH
One Youth at a Time
This chapter focuses on giving our youth members chances to enrich their activism with opportunities locally or nationally. It is imperative that we, as a chapter, continue to put youth in spaces where they will be heard and seen.

ACTIVISM AWARENESS PROJECTS
One Issue at a Time
At Midlands People Power, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing all types of social issues. But, for this year, we would like to engage in multiple projects to ensure that we continue to be active proponents of change in our communities.

COMMUNITY
One Connection at a Time
The most important goal of this chapter is to establish a community within our chapter to help create a safe space where we can learn from each other and grow as a individuals.

GROWTH
One Step at a Time
As the chapter grows, our goal is to educate each other on issues and enact social change in our individual communities.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
